How to write a listing pet owners choose
Description, photos, opening hours and contact details: what a pet owner looks at first, and how to show it in your Gatsou listing.
A pet owner looking for a groomer, sitter or vet glances at a few listings and decides quickly. They don't always pick the cheapest or the closest; they pick the one that makes them feel their animal will be in good hands. Your listing is your first meeting with them, and you can make it count.
What does a pet owner look at first?
A clear photo of a real space or real work
A short description of what you do and for which animals
Where you are and when you're open
An easy way to get in touch
Reviews from other owners, once you have them
These are also the steps you complete before going live on Gatsou. We don't ask for them as a formality; they are exactly the details an owner needs before they stop scrolling.
How do I write a good business description?
Write the way you'd speak to a new client on the phone. Three to five sentences is plenty. Start with what you do and for whom, then what makes you different, then something practical.
What you do
For example, "Grooming and baths for dogs and cats in central Athens."
What makes you different
Gentle handling for anxious animals, years of experience, a breed speciality or home visits.
Something practical
Whether appointments are needed, if there's parking, if you speak English.
Skip generic lines like "the best care" or "we love animals". Everyone says them. Specific details are what persuade.
Which photos should I upload?
A logo helps people recognise you, but a cover photo of your space or of animals in your care says far more. With three or more gallery photos, an owner gets a feel for the place before they visit.
Natural light, a tidy space, no filters that change the colours
Animals in calm moments, never stressed
Before-and-after grooming shots, with the owner's consent
The waiting area, exam room or garden, whatever clients will see
If you do one thing today, upload a cover photo of your real space. It's the change owners notice first.
Why do opening hours and location matter?
Owners search near them. Without an address you won't show up in nearby searches, and without opening hours an owner can't tell whether they can come today. Keep your hours current on holidays too; a closed shop that looks open breaks trust faster than anything.
Do I need a website or social media?
Not to go live, but a link to a website, Instagram or Facebook shows you're a real, active business. Many owners take a look there before booking.
A quick checklist
A three-to-five sentence description, a cover photo, three gallery photos, a correct address, current opening hours, a phone or email, and a link to your social profile. You'll find them all in "Get your listing live" on your partner portal dashboard.
Frequently asked
How long should my description be?
Three to five sentences is enough. Say what you do, for which animals, what makes you different and something practical, like whether appointments are needed.
Can I go live without photos?
You need at least a logo or a cover photo to go live. Gallery photos are optional but help a lot.
What if my opening hours change?
Update them from the Opening hours page in the partner portal. The change shows on your public listing straight away.
Can I edit my description after going live?
Yes, any time from the Profile page. Your listing stays live while you edit.
Run a pet business or animal group?
List it on Gatsou for free, get found by pet owners near you, and manage everything from one portal.
